Marie Curie: A Life of Science
Biography
Marie Curie was a famous physicist and chemist. She was born in Poland in 1867. She conducted many experiments on radioactivity. She discovered two new elements: polonium and radium.
Marie Curie was the first woman to win a Nobel Prize. In fact, she won it twice! She won the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1903 and the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 1911. Her work helped doctors develop X-rays.
Sadly, she died in 1934 because of radiation exposure. Today, scientists are still exploring her findings to find cures for diseases.
